Earby and District Local History Society was founded in 1995, by six local history enthusiasts. The society has now grown to over 100 members.
Our aims are to raise awareness and interest in the history of the Ancient Parish of Thornton-in-Craven, of which Earby was a part. We aim to facilitate research into the heritage of Earby and District, including Thornton-in-Craven, Kelbrook, Hague, Harden and Salterforth.
If you wish to join us, and help preserve our heritage for future generations, please visit our membership page for further details or explore our site to learn more.
Metal Detecting
The society has obtained a couple of Metal Detectors and is looking for members with experience to guide other interested members in learning the finer points of this hobby.
Permission has been obtained from some local landowners to get the society started.
The committee are in the process of setting out a set of rules to ensure those partaking do not break the law and also protect the society from any legal action resulting from this activity.
